Applying AI to accelerate research insights and explore emerging design workflows

OTPP

Using AI to surface insights and build team capability at OTPP

Working with the Data and Insights team, I helped develop taxonomies to analyze and categorize comments from our web intercept survey and transcripts from support calls using ChatGPT Enterprise. The result was an AI-powered dashboard that could surface pain points at scale, reducing the time spent on manual research synthesis. I encouraged adoption across the UX team, demonstrating how to use it effectively as part of our research workflow.

Alongside this, I organized a custom training on conversational design for all UX designers and content writers. I brought in Rebecca Evanhoe, an expert in the field who teaches at Pratt Institute, to cover the fundamentals of conversational UI design, chatbot tone, personality, scope and guardrails, and best practices for redirecting users to other channels. I also mentored a UX designer as she worked on the interface for OTPP's first member support chatbot, putting those principles directly into practice.

I also used Microsoft Copilot day-to-day for capturing meeting notes and editing copy, integrating it into our team's workflow as a practical productivity tool.

Personal

Personal learning and experimentation

To deepen my understanding of where the field is heading, I completed two courses in 2025: Conversational Design with Rebecca Evanhoe, and UX & Design in an AI World: Strategic Fundamentals with Jared Spool through Maven.

I've been using Claude for drafting and editing copy, and experimenting with Figma AI to generate placeholder copy, rename layers, and automate repetitive tasks. More recently, Figma Make has allowed me to take existing designs and quickly explore alternate directions, add effects, interactions, and prototype from static designs through prompting.
